The NHS requires every GP practice to have a Patient Participation Group, a group of patients who help the practice ensure they’re meeting the needs of all their patients.
The PPG is not a place for individual health queries, and it does not give advice.
What it does do:
- Consults with patients through the Patient Panel.
- Supports patients by signposting to where they can find out information.
- It supports the surgery by sharing information, especially vaccinations days, urgent notices such as a power cut, payment machine not working, closure for training sessions etc.
- It promotes new initiatives such as the Pharmabox.
- Attends local PPG networking groups, the Whitewater Loddon PCN PPG steering Group and HIOW NHS English PPG group.
It communicates in a variety of ways including:
- Two advertising boards in the Surgery.
- Social media (Facebook and Instagram).
- This web site (under development).
- Articles in local community magazines.
- A twice-yearly newsletter.
- Attends public meetings and Health Awareness days to engage with patients face to face.
- It supports at vaccination clinics.
- It keeps up to date with national training courses and webinars.
